Prestatyn | ©Crown copyright (2014) Visit Wales

Prestatyn is a seaside resort, but with a touch less of the hustle and bustle associated with its neighbour, Rhyl. Here the pace of life is a little less frenetic, but there is still plenty to do beyond the usual beach activities (for example: Ffrith Beach Fun Park). The facilities are also very good, particularly at Central Beach where you will find deck chair hire, public toilets, cafes, an outdoor shower and a play area. For other supplies head into Prestatyn where you will find an abundance of shops, cafes and pubs.

There is a designated swimming zone on Central Beach which is watched over by lifeguards – look out for the red and yellow flags which indicate when the lifeguards are on duty.

Barkby Beach is where much sailing and boating activity will be found. The Prestatyn Sailing Club is based here and there is a boat launching slipway.

Between the 1st of May and 30th September the main sections of beaches at Prestatyn are designated as dog exclusion areas. There are however, no dog restrictions on Ffrith Beach West which is located at the western end of the resort. At the other end of the town east of the slipway and sailing club on Barkby Beach.

Approach / parking:

There is extensive car parking close to all the beaches.
