A pleasant and relatively short cycle from the popular mountain village of Llanberis along the shore of Llyn Padarn to the quiet village of Brynrefail. The cycleway follows the old railway line and provides a gentle excursion along a secluded avenue lined with trees. Towards the end it opens out onto the old road and reaches the end of the lake. Here at Pen Llyn the views up Dyffryn Peris and to the looming Snowdon massif are nothing short of spectacular.
There is plenty of wildlife to be seen along the way, and of course in Brynrefail, the perfect place to relax and refuel for the return journey to Llanberis: the wonderful Caban café.
Start at the lagoons area in Llanberis where there is ample parking. The road leading to the lagoons lies just opposite the entrance to Llanberis at the Caernarfon end of the A4086 which bypasses the village centre. Follow the road back along the lake side for 400m to reach a parking area on the right just before the start of the cycle track.
