The Coed Moel Famau trail is a forest ride situated on the lower slopes of the Clwydian Range. Despite the tree cover it is blessed with some spectacular views over the surrounding landscape and on a clear day well beyond to Merseyside. The loop around the forest is 12.2km long and includes quite a bit of ascent (450m). It is suitable for beginners, but still requires a fair amount of effort to complete. The route zig-zags around below the summit slopes of Moel Famau before sweeping around Ffrith Mountain and looping back to the start. A reasonably fit group can expect to complete it in two hours. Like all forestry trails the route is occasionally closed due to forestry operations. The car park has public toilet facilities.
Approach:
Start from the main car park at the south side Coed Moel Famau.
